- Sweetness:
- Acidity:
- Boldness:
Fist-sized basalt cobblestones in the soil, give this bold bad boy its stony, mineral quality. Complex, plump and luxurious, with loads of dark fruit, kalamata olive, pie crust and a sultry, smokey note through the lovely finish!
Pair this wine with a Grilled Steak or Kalamata Olives.

Winery Description

Well, have we got a great winery story for you!!
The Martínez Bujanda family has been making wine for over 130 years, starting in 1889 with 25 acres in a tiny village in Rioja, Spain, brought to 450 acres by Jesús Martínez Bujanda in 1945! Then, in 1985 his son Jesús (4th generation) established the Conde Valdemar brand, with the most modern and technologically-advanced winery in all of Europe at the time!
The winery in Rioja currently stands at 750 acres, with 5th generation Jesús Martínez Bujanda Mora as the CEO. But this Jesús moved to Walla Walla, Washington, and in 2019 he and his sister, Ana Martínez Bujanda, opened a new boutique (small-production) winery, Valdemar Estates, with an all-women winemaking team!
Focusing on a minimal-intervention style, Winemaker Marie-Eve Gilla and Assistant Winemaker Devyana Gupta craft incredible red wines full of big, dark fruit, but also with lush, beautiful tannins that will help them age well in the cellar. (The Chardonnay is World Class, too!)
Valdemar Estates has an annual production of under 2,000 cases per year.
