Lush and lovely, with loads of chocolate-covered dried cherries and boysenberries and an interesting pie crust note creeping in there…makes us want to curl up next to a fire with a good book. The heavy, high-quality bottle alone will give you an idea of what to expect inside. Impressive, all around!

Pair with Beef Short Ribs or Prime Rib with freshly grated horseradish and mashed potatoes.

Winery Description

  • Vino Tintoque started with a dream many years ago of showcasing some of Oregon’s lesser-known grape varietals and vineyards. Peter Bouman set out, with winemaker Anthony King, to produce tiny lots of wines, focusing on big, rich reds and beautiful, aromatic whites.
That dream eventually came to fruition, and their inaugural release was a miniscule amount of a Cabernet/Merlot blend. Vino Tintoque now produces seven to eight red wines, and one white, all well under 100 cases of each. Says Peter, “I have concluded from years of observation that wine quality loses something when the quantity grows beyond what an owner/winemaker can manage personally.” We love that, and, while it is not always the case, we think that is the sign of a true small business owner that truly cares about quality!
Anthony was the winemaker for Acacia Winery (Napa Valley, CA), then Lemelson (Willamette Valley, OR), and he is now the general manager and a winemaker at the Carlton Winemakers Studio, in Carlton, Oregon.
We believe these incredible wines would stand up next to similar wines at twice the price!
